During the night of October 2 to 3, the extensive security measures at PV Park Fahlhorst (7.6 MwP) paid off. Through the combined use of sensors, surveillance cameras, on-site security and a police helicopter, the perpetrator was caught in the act. In order to get into the park, the perpetrator had cut open the wire mesh fence uber almost the entire height.
This shows once again how important an effective surveillance system is for solar farms, but also that perpetrators obviously believe they can be more intelligent and succeed even with surveillance installed. Only an effective security system thus fulfills its purpose. At the same time, the incident shows that helpless attempts to increase the security of a park by means of dummy cameras or other well-intentioned measures without meaning and purpose are merely wasted labor (costs).
